CDL A Driver with Hazmat Endorsement (Full-Time)

3-Rivers Drilling & Blasting has been serving the Western U.S. since 1997. We're known for professional, safe, and accurate work, and we're fully licensed and properly insured/bonded for every project we take on. We're looking for CDL A Drivers with a Hazmat Endorsement to join our team and help transport materials safely to our job sites across Utah.

This role is ideal for drivers who take pride in their professionalism, understand the importance of safety, and are ready to support dynamic field operations. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate CDL A vehicles with Hazmat cargo to transport materials between project sites
Follow all DOT and company safety regulations, including Hazmat handling procedures
Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation for each trip
Inspect vehicles before and after trips, performing basic maintenance as needed
Communicate effectively with dispatch, site supervisors, and team members
Assist with loading/unloading materials safely when required
Willing to do labor work with the rest of the crew

Qualifications

Valid CDL A license with Hazmat Endorsement
Clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from job sites
1+ years of professional driving experience preferred
Strong safety mindset and attention to detail
Ability to work full-time or part-time schedules
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor or job site conditions as required

Pay and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $25-$30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Full-time W-2 employment

Position summary

This document describes the formal duties, objectives, metrics and required capabilities for the CDL A Driver with Hazmat Endorsement at 3 Rivers Drilling and Blasting. The incumbent operates commercial vehicles to transport personnel and limited cargo, with a primary emphasis on safe, compliant conveyance of passengers and hazardous materials where applicable. The role is accountable for vehicle condition, regulatory compliance, timely execution of assigned trips, and accurate recordkeeping. This description is intended for internal use and role clarification rather than external recruitment.

The position differs from freight- or delivery-focused driver roles in that passenger safety, comfort and direct service are primary; it also differs from supervisory or fleet-management roles because the incumbent performs day-to-day vehicle operation and passenger interaction rather than managing staff or fleet procurement.

- KR3.1: Report mechanical issues promptly and reduce preventable vehicle downtime to ≤ 2% of scheduled hours per quarter.
- KR3.2: Ensure assigned vehicle passes periodic maintenance checks with no critical safety findings attributable to operator neglect.

Primary duties and responsibilities

Operate company-assigned CDL A vehicle with Hazmat endorsement in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies.
Perform and document thorough pre-trip, en-route and post-trip vehicle inspections; identify and report defects or maintenance needs immediately to fleet maintenance.
Load, secure and transport limited cargo and passenger belongings as required, following hazmat securement, placarding and segregation procedures where applicable.
Complete and retain required trip logs, driver daily logs, manifests, shipping papers and inspection reports accurately and submit within established timeframes.
Plan routes to meet pickup/delivery schedules while optimizing safety and compliance with HOS rules and company routing directives; adapt to operational changes and communicate updates to dispatch and supervisors.
Respond to on-route incidents, emergencies or vehicle breakdowns according to company emergency procedures, including immediate notification, initial containment for hazmat events, and cooperation with emergency responders.
Interact professionally with passengers, clients and site personnel; provide reasonable assistance to passengers while maintaining safety protocols.
Attend required training (defensive driving, hazmat refreshers, safety briefings) and participate in performance evaluations and remedial training when necessary.
Adhere to company drug and alcohol testing policies, maintain a valid CDL A with Hazmat endorsement and notify management of any changes to license status.

Key skills, abilities and knowledge required

Required competencies: valid CDL A license in good standing, Hazmat (H) endorsement, thorough knowledge of DOT HAZMAT regulations, Hours of Service rules, vehicle inspection procedures and defensive driving practices. Proven ability to maintain accurate logs and manifests, follow written procedures, and execute basic mechanical checks. Strong situational awareness, risk assessment skills and the ability to make safety-first decisions under time pressure. Effective communication skills for interaction with passengers, dispatch, site personnel and emergency responders. Physical ability to perform vehicle entry/egress, securement of small cargo and use of required safety equipment. Desired experience: prior commercial driving experience in passenger transport or shuttle operations, prior hazmat handling experience, familiarity with company-specific vehicle types and GPS/route-planning systems.
